PHC Group Targets on Greenhouse Gas Reduction Validated By Science Based Targets Initiative
TOKYO, JAPAN, June 25, 2025 – PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, President, Representative Director and CEO: Kyoko Deguchi, hereafter PHC Group) announces that the company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1 on June 16, 2025.

The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that checks and validates the scientific basis of CO2 emissions reduction targets set by companies worldwide. It acknowledges that approaches to reducing emissions is scientifically grounded and consistent with the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global temperature rise to below 1.5℃ relative to pre-industrial levels.
PHC Group has received validation for its Near-Term SBT on targets to reduce Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) GHG emissions by 42%, as well as Scope 3 (upstream and downstream in the supply chain) GHG emissions by 25%, by fiscal year 2030. These targets are outlined in the PHC Group Value Creation Plan 2027*2, which are based on our global sustainability strategy to prioritize initiatives in climate change, preservation of natural resources and circularity.
Kyoko Deguchi, President, Representative Director and CEO of PHC Holdings Corporation, said, “All major achievements start with a goal. We are delighted for our targets to be validated by the SBTi, which is one of our sustainability strategy initiatives outlined in our Value Creation Plan 2027. This accomplishment is an important milestone, and we are thrilled to have reached it so quickly. Starting last fiscal year, we have embarked on sustainability initiatives*3 including calculating GHG emissions throughout our supply chain and obtaining third-party verification using the international standard ISO 14064-3-2019 for our emissions in Scope 1-3, which is based on a global GHG calculation protocol. PHC Group is committed to reducing GHG emissions from its sites’ business activities through initiatives such as energy savings, renewable energy adoption, and equipment upgrades. We will also drive collaboration with business partners to promote GHG emission reductions across the entire supply chain and contribute to a more sustainable future.”
